I had a great weekend getaway last Saturday at the green open football field of Nuvali as they organized The first ever NUVALI Night Sky Cinema. People from all walks of life sat on bean bags and picnic mats watching all time favorite romantic Hollywood flicks on a gigantic outdoor screen – the event’s main attraction.
I’ve been to Nuvali a lot of times. But this weekend in Nuvali was indeed a romantic place to go. It sets the mood of the crowd. We watched Pretty in Pink, Breakfast at Tiffany’s & Like Crazy. It’s the first time I saw Breakfast actually. Looking at the people around me, everyone was really enjoying the field.. No place could be a more perfect setting for such an event given clear star-lit sky, cool evening breeze & fresh air that NUVALI is known for.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the first film to be screened, is a 1961 Audrey Hepburn film directed by Blake Edwards. Hepburn portrays a naïve, eccentric café society girl named Holly- generally believed to be the actress’ most identifiable & memorable role.

Pretty in Pink on the other hand is 1986 American teen romantic comedy-drama film about teenage love and social cliques in 1980s American high schools. It is one of a group of John Hughes films starring Molly Ringwald, and is commonly identified as a “Brat Pack” film. The film was directed by Howard Deutch, produced by Lauren Shuler and written by John Hughes. It has become a cult favorite.
Of the three films, Like Crazy is the most fairly recent. The 2011 American romantic drama film directed by Drake Doremus and starring Anton Yelchin, Felicity Jones,Jennifer Lawrence and Alex Kingston. The film, which won the 2011 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize.
The event was hosted by Tom Alvarez, Dr. Love from Monster Radio RX 93.1

Aside from the movie screening, other “date night” attractions were also available including a giant slide, jousting area, basketball hoops section to name a few. And what would date night be without food? Food carts and trailers were also present to churn out tasty eats and movie treats.

Everyone is actually wishing that the event should be regularly held (We’ll I agree). Through events like this, people are given an opportunity to appreciate the outdoors and life’s simple pleasures with family and friends: definitely another NUVALI signature event in the making.
The NUVALI Night-Sky Cinema was made possible by the following: The Grind (Patron Sponsor) and donors Oishi, Krispy Kreme, BreadTalk, All FlipFlops and Media Partners.
