Disney+ New App Philippines: What Subscribers Need to Know on October 7, 2026

Disney+ is introducing a new app experience in the Philippines starting October 7, 2026, bringing subscribers into a new Disney+ platform while continuing to offer access to the movies and shows they love. For existing Disney+ subscribers, the transition comes at no additional cost. Subscribers will be able to access the new Disney+ experience using the same email address or phone number they currently use. However, there are some important changes to know, particularly when it comes to profiles, Watchlist, viewing history and subscription plans.

For now, Disney+ says subscribers do not need to download anything or take immediate action. The service will provide reminders before users need to do anything as part of the transition.

Disney+ New App Launches in the Philippines on October 7, 2026

The new Disney+ app experience will become available to subscribers in the Philippines beginning October 7, 2026.

The transition is designed to move existing subscribers into the new Disney+ experience without requiring them to pay an additional fee simply because of the change.

Existing subscribers can log in using the same email address or phone number associated with their current Disney+ subscription.

There is one important exception. If a subscriber has not previously provided an email address through the current Disney+ app, they will be asked to provide one when logging into the new experience for the first time.

Once logged in, subscribers will be able to set up their primary profile and start streaming.

Existing Disney+ Subscribers Will Get the New Experience at No Extra Cost

If you already subscribe to Disney+, you will receive access to the new Disney+ experience at no additional cost starting October 7.

The plan available to you will depend on the Disney+ subscription you currently have.

Subscribers should therefore check which plan they currently have before the transition, particularly those who are currently subscribed to Disney+ Basic or Disney+ Premium.

The availability date and plan details may differ for customers whose Disney+ subscription is billed through a third party.

What Happens to Your Disney+ Profile, Watchlist and Viewing History?

This is one of the biggest things existing subscribers need to know about the new Disney+ app.

While subscribers will continue to have access to Disney+ movies and shows, their existing profiles, Watchlist and viewing history will not be available on the new Disney+ experience.

Instead, existing subscribers will set up their primary profile when they first log in to the new app.

This means users may need to recreate their Watchlist and adjust their viewing preferences after moving to the new Disney+ experience.

Your access to the Disney+ content library will continue, but your previous personalization and viewing information will not simply carry over.

Disney+ Basic Subscribers Will Get the Standard Plan

Another significant change involves Disney+ subscription plans.

If you currently have a Disney+ Basic subscription, you will receive access to the Disney+ Standard plan on the new Disney+ experience at no additional cost.

The Disney+ Standard plan includes several features that subscribers can use on the new platform, including:

  • Downloads
  • Video quality of up to 1080p
  • Up to two simultaneous streams

This means Basic subscribers will transition to Standard without having to pay an additional amount for the change.

Disney+ Premium Subscribers Will Keep Premium Features

Subscribers who currently have a Disney+ Premium subscription will retain the features associated with the Premium plan on the new Disney+ app.

The new experience therefore does not automatically downgrade existing Premium subscribers.

The plan available to each subscriber will ultimately depend on the subscription they currently have when the transition takes place.

Your Disney+ Billing Period Will Stay the Same

The introduction of the new Disney+ app will not reset your existing billing cycle.

Disney+ says that your billing period will remain the same on the new app regardless of which plan you have.

Subscribers will also continue to have the option to change their plan at any time.

This means the app transition itself should not require subscribers to start a new billing period simply because they are moving to the new Disney+ experience.

Will Disney+ Movies and Shows Still Be Available?

Yes. Starting October 7, 2026, subscribers will be able to access the movies and shows available through the new Disney+ app.

The transition is primarily about moving subscribers to the new Disney+ experience. Existing subscribers will continue to have access to the service, subject to their subscription and the applicable plan.

After logging in for the first time, users can set up their primary profile and begin streaming.

Do You Need to Download the New Disney+ App?

For now, no immediate action is required.

Disney+ says subscribers do not need to download anything at this point and will receive a reminder before they need to take action.

As the October 7 rollout begins, subscribers should watch for official instructions from Disney+ regarding access to the new experience and any required app updates.

Disney+ Updates Its Subscriber Agreement

The transition to the new Disney+ experience also comes with an updated Disney+ Subscriber Agreement.

The new agreement is dated September 3, 2026, while the previous agreement was dated February 20, 2024.

Subscribers who joined Disney+ before September 3, 2026 will continue to be governed by the previous February 20, 2024 Subscriber Agreement through October 6, 2026.

Starting October 7, 2026, the new Subscriber Agreement will govern the relationship between Disney+ and those subscribers.

For customers who subscribed to Disney+ on or after September 3, 2026, the new Subscriber Agreement already applies.

Subscribers can review both the new and expiring agreements through the official Disney+ Philippines website.

What Disney+ Subscribers in the Philippines Should Remember

The arrival of the new Disney+ app experience on October 7, 2026 represents a significant change for Disney+ subscribers in the Philippines, but existing customers will not have to pay an additional fee simply to move to the new platform.

The most important thing to remember is that subscribers can use their existing email address or phone number to access the new experience. Basic subscribers will receive access to the Standard plan at no additional cost, while Premium subscribers will retain their Premium plan features.

The biggest adjustment for existing users will be the loss of their current profiles, Watchlist and viewing history. Subscribers should be prepared to set up their primary profile again and rebuild their Watchlist after logging into the new Disney+ experience.

Disney+ says subscribers do not need to take immediate action and will be reminded before any action is required.

With the new Disney+ experience arriving in the Philippines on October 7, subscribers can expect a new way to access the Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and other entertainment available through the platform.

This article will be updated as more information about the Disney+ Philippines rollout becomes available.
