Alex Eala Live: Game. Set. Celebrate to Champion the Next Generation of Filipino Tennis Players

More than a celebration of Alex Eala’s achievements, the December 8 exhibition at the Philippine Arena will turn the spotlight on grassroots tennis development, with proceeds from official merchandise supporting PHILTA’s initiatives for aspiring young Filipino athletes.

The success of Filipino tennis sensation Alex Eala is opening doors not only for Philippine tennis on the international stage but also for the next generation of athletes hoping to follow in her footsteps.

This is the vision behind Alex Eala Live: Game. Set. Celebrate, an upcoming tennis exhibition scheduled for December 8, 2026, at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan. Featuring Eala and Indonesian tennis standout Janice Tjen, the event promises to be more than a showcase of world-class tennis. It aims to transform the excitement surrounding Eala’s achievements into meaningful opportunities for young Filipinos to discover, learn, and participate in the sport.

Organised by Tatler in partnership with the Philippine Tennis Association (PHILTA), the event will champion grassroots tennis development and promote greater accessibility to the sport, particularly among underserved communities.

As part of its commitment, the organisers are providing complimentary tickets to local community groups and aspiring young tennis players, giving more Filipinos the opportunity to witness the sport up close. Additionally, 100 percent of the profits from official event merchandise will be donated to PHILTA’s Tennis Grassroots Program, which supports community-based initiatives aimed at bringing tennis closer to young athletes across the country.

PHILTA Secretary General John Rey Tiangco emphasised the importance of building on Eala’s achievements to create a stronger foundation for Philippine tennis.

“Alex has already placed the Philippines on the world tennis map. But her success did not happen overnight. Behind her achievements are years of hard work, sacrifice, and the unwavering support of her family, who believed in her from the very beginning. We hope her journey inspires more institutions to step forward, not only to support Alex as she reaches greater heights, but also to invest in the development of Philippine tennis and the next generation of Filipino athletes,” Tiangco said.

For Tatler Group Chairman and CEO Michel Lamunière, the exhibition is an opportunity to turn a moment of national pride into something that can benefit aspiring athletes for years to come.

“Alex Eala’s journey is an inspiration to Filipinos everywhere, and Alex Eala Live is an opportunity not only to celebrate what she has achieved, but also to think about what comes next. We want the excitement around this event to extend beyond the court and create opportunities for more young Filipinos to discover tennis, participate in the sport and believe that they too can pursue their ambitions. We thank our sponsors and partners for helping us bring this vision to life and support the future of Philippine tennis,” Lamunière said.

Tiangco further highlighted that the goal is not simply to celebrate one successful athlete but to help create an environment where more Filipino players can reach the same heights.

“Now, our responsibility is to create more opportunities for young Filipinos to follow in her footsteps. We don’t just want to celebrate one champion. We want to help develop the next generation of champions,” he added.

Supporting this vision are BingoPlus, Jollibee, Marriott Bonvoy, BPI, Globe, and Rebisco. Their participation underscores the important role that private institutions and corporate partnerships can play in strengthening Philippine sports and providing opportunities for emerging talent.

BPI and Globe, in particular, have supported Eala’s career long before her international breakthrough, demonstrating the importance of investing in athletes even before they achieve widespread recognition.

For many aspiring Filipino tennis players, access to proper training, quality facilities, professional coaching, and competitive opportunities remains a significant challenge. Through collaborations between sporting organisations and private companies, these barriers can be addressed, helping young athletes develop their potential and pursue their sporting ambitions.

“We are grateful to the organisations supporting this event, and we hope more companies will invest in Filipino athletes, especially those still developing their potential. Somewhere in our communities is the next Alex Eala. We just need to give them the opportunity,” Tiangco said.

Ultimately, Alex Eala Live: Game. Set. Celebrate hopes to demonstrate that the impact of a sporting event should extend far beyond the competition itself. While the exhibition will celebrate Eala’s accomplishments and bring Filipino and Indonesian tennis fans together, its more lasting contribution could be the opportunities it creates for young athletes who dream of representing the Philippines.

As Eala continues to inspire a new generation, the challenge is to ensure that her success becomes a starting point for something bigger: a stronger, more accessible, and more inclusive tennis community in the Philippines.

Because perhaps Alex Eala’s greatest legacy will not only be measured by the titles she wins, but also by the doors she opens for the next generation of Filipino champions.
