Fans around the Philippines are eagerly anticipating the chance to see the popular musical Hamilton in person when it arrives in Manila. Like many other Filipinos, I had high hopes for this to occur. Since that announcement until today, I’ve been waiting for the ticket pricing and seating chart. One of my favorite experiences as a blogger was covering the Philippine premieres of Mamma Mia, Phantom of the Opera and the likes. I am eager to see Hamilton now that it is here. Between September and November 2023, Hamilton will be shown in The Theatre at Solaire.
The musical Hamilton was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and won the Tony and Pulitzer Awards. The play uses hip-hop, R&B, and classic show melodies to portray the narrative of Alexander Hamilton, one of the United States’ Founding Fathers. The musical premiered off-Broadway in February 2015 and transferred to Broadway that August. It has now become a cultural phenomenon, attracting a varied audience and garnering critical acclaim for its novel approach to storytelling as well as its ability to make history accessible and interesting. The show has also been performed successfully in London, Chicago, San Francisco, and other locations across the world. And now it is coming to Manila!
Having said that, an exclusive 3-day pre-sale for Hamilton tickets has been made available by UnionBank as part of a recent promotion for Manila-based fans of the show.
