Last weekend, September 24 and 25, an annual event to promote healthy active living through outdoor sports and encourage sports excellence was held at the very large fields of Nuvali.
Dubbed as NUVALI CUP 2011: Legends Rising, the event featured different schools and leagues battling for different sports such as football, baseball, and touch football.
Was happy to see teams from different clubs and schools that competed including De La Salle Zobel, Paref Southridge, Paref Woodrose, Ateneo De Manila,Canlubang Little League, De La Salle Lipa, Alabang Tigers, Brent, UP Diliman, Faith Academy, Nomads, Makati Football School, Manila Soccer Academy and more. I was able to talk to even little cute kids who participated with their fully armed jersey and athletic uniforms.
Before the event started, we were roaming around the field and saw some familiar groups practicing some dance moves. Then I realized they are the Pilipinas Got Talent Season II grand Finalist, the Freestylers. They are the opening act on the event and everyone was in awe with their breathtaking stunts.
Then followed by the parade of colors from different schools. Some of the key members of the country’s national teams the Baseball Philippines, Philippine Azkals, and Philippine Volcanoes were also there to lead the sports code pledge during the opening ceremony. Anton Del Rosario from AZKALS and Cassie Umali from Philippine Women’s Rugby Team were also there as one big support.
There were more than 650 players in Football alone! Some of them were from Laguna, NCR including Makati Football schools and Makati soccer Academy. The Baseball event was also big as they have more than 300 players as well as Beach Touch Football with 200 players from Brent, UP Diliman and other Rugby clubs.
The weather is very cooperative I should say, cloudy and no sun! perfect for the future athletic legends to kick the games. Nuvali field was one big arena of sports enthusiasts!
Nuvali Cup was indeed an epic sports fest you don’t want to miss annually!
