The Philippines is set to celebrate a milestone for the local film industry as the country prepares for its first-ever National Cinema Day on September 12, bringing together key players from across the cinema and film sectors for a nationwide celebration of Philippine cinema. The official launch was held on August 25, with the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) joining the Cinema Exhibitors Association of the Philippines (CEAP) and major industry partners to mark the occasion.
Carrying the theme “One Industry. One Message. One Big Day,” National Cinema Day aims to unite the different pillars of the Philippine film industry in championing, supporting, and celebrating cinema. The launch event featured messages from prominent figures representing various sectors of the film industry.
Among those who shared their messages were CEAP Chairperson Karen Zabaljauregui, FDCP Chairman and CEO Jose Javier Reyes, FAP Director General Paolo Villaluna, MMDA and MMFF Chairman Romando S. Artes, QCFC Commissioner Ed Lejano, Motion Picture Association Representative Nicole Castillo-Deato, and Producers Guild of the Philippines Chairman Roselle Monteverde-Teo.
Their participation highlighted the collaborative nature of the initiative, bringing together cinema exhibitors, filmmakers, producers, government representatives, and other industry stakeholders. The event ultimately culminated in the ceremonial launch of National Cinema Day and the signing of a Commitment Wall.
