4 Activity Ideas for Anniversary Celebrations (During a Pandemic)

Being in lockdown because of the pandemic can put a damper on the mood and make it difficult to be excited about celebrating an anniversary. Many are experiencing fatigue or anxiety about the ongoing situation. Others might also feel like they have been stuck at home with their spouse or partner for far too long, which can increase the likelihood of friction.

However, these challenges can actually be the reasons why couples need to make the extra effort to make the day special. Reaching a new milestone together can elicit positive emotions about each other and deepen their connection. Planning an anniversary activity also breaks the monotony of life in a pandemic and gives them something to look forward to. If your anniversary is coming up, remember that you don’t need to leave home to have a memorable date. Here are some ideas for a special night in.

Honeymoon at Home

Choosing to be in lockdown for the weekend is very different from it happening as a matter of chance. Remember when you used to lock yourselves in the bedroom and just spend all your time cuddling with each other? Channel those lovey-dovey vibes again by pretending to be on a honeymoon for the next 48 hours. Agree to have rules like limiting attire to lingerie only, not doing any chores, and only leaving the room to receive your food deliveries.

Plan the weekend ahead of time so the two of you aren’t disturbed and can just focus on enjoying each other’s company. You might also consider browsing through sex shops in the Philippines and picking out something to try together. It can be a toy that both of you can use, some accessories for role play, or even a flavored lubricant. Just enjoying something new can reignite your passions and bring added excitement back to your bedroom.

Travel Without Stepping Out

If you usually go on a trip as part of your anniversary celebrations, being homebound can leave you feeling frustrated. While it won’t cure your wanderlust, watching documentaries and joining virtual tours can offer a new cultural experience. You can “visit” galleries, events, and other attractions all from the safety of your home. Additionally, doing this can give you a better sense of how to arrange your itinerary when you finally do get to visit for real.

Enhance your virtual travel experience by setting up the mood at home. Viewing cherry blossoms in full bloom? Use a sakura inspired scent for your room and order some sushi. Doing a tour of the Louvre? Lay out a grazing table with French cheeses and enjoy looking at the art while drinking red wine. Watching a  concert by your favorite artist? Break out those light sticks and feel free to sing (and dance) along.

Box of Experiences

Watching things instead of experiencing them can emphasize the sense of missing out for some people. If you prefer to be an active participant, consider doing a learning activity together. Sign up for a wine or coffee tasting class that offers both an online session and a tasting activity box with samples of the wine or coffee being discussed. This creates a more interactive dynamic wherein you can compare tasting notes and talk about what you have learned from the session.

You can also make use of boxed activities like paint-by-numbers sets or even modeling kits to just be engrossed in the same project and build something together. In this way, you can even create a souvenir or two of your anniversary.

Take a Drive

Sometimes, you really just need to get out of the house and have a change of scenery. Get dressed up, strap on your seatbelts, and set your GPS to guide you on a scenic drive. You can go up to Tagaytay, follow the Viaje del Sol, cruise Roxas Boulevard at sunset, or simply drive around your village if you don’t want to go too far. Find a nice outdoor spot away from the crowds to enjoy a little picnic with food you packed. Don’t forget to make the perfect drive music playlist to accompany you on the road.

Even if you’re not really headed anywhere, a leisurely road trip can be refreshing and help you shake off that cabin fever while minimizing your risk of exposure to other people. Drink in the sights, and use this time to just have a light and fun conversation with each other.

Being stuck at home can feel challenging and restrictive but it can also inspire you to try something different and creative besides the usual dinner out. New experiences can also reinvigorate your relationship as they break the monotony of work, chores, and other domesticities. Whatever you decide to do, focus on simply enjoying your partner’s company and creating new memories together. After all, you only really need each other to have fun
