(EVENT) National Artist Award for Cinema Conferred to Fernando Poe Jr.

National Artist Award for Cinema was conferred to Late Fernando Poe Jr at the Malacanang Palace. I think he really deserves the award considering his contribution in the industry not only as an actor but as a director.

Susan Roces and daughter Grace Poe Llamanzares recieved the award. Susan Roces said, “When FPJ ran for the presidency, he did not have any other wish but to serve our fellow Filipinos because we show biz personalities owe them a lot,”

President Aquino said, “More than being an actor, writer, producer and director, he was humble, compassionate and helpful.”

Known also as FPJ from his initials, Poe acted in a number of movies which depicted him as the champion of the poor and downtrodden. He also directed nine movies, under the pseudonym Ronwaldo Reyes. Reyes originated from the surname of his paternal grandmother, Martha. The name Ronwaldo Reyes also alliterates to Ronald Reagan, who like Poe, was an actor who later ran for President. -Wiki
