For the first time ever, Spotify Philippines is giving Original Pilipino Music (OPM) its own Editors’ Picks treatment, highlighting the songs that have defined the local music scene in 2026.
The streaming platform has officially launched Editors’ Picks: Best OPM Songs of the Year So Far, an editorially curated, unranked collection of 50 standout Filipino tracks released this year. Rather than focusing solely on streaming numbers, the list celebrates songs that have made a lasting impression through exceptional songwriting, musical innovation, originality, and cultural influence.
Curated by Spotify Philippines’ editorial team, the midyear selection reflects the diversity and evolution of today’s OPM landscape. It features chart-topping hits alongside emerging gems, showcasing artists who continue to push creative boundaries and redefine Filipino music.
Among the featured songs are SB19’s “VISA,” Skusta Clee and Flow G’s “Since Day One,” BINI’s “Unang Kilig,” Arthur Nery’s “Desperado,” Hev Abi’s “WALANG HIYA,” and ena mori’s “19 Underground,” representing the wide spectrum of sounds shaping OPM today.
According to Chesca Tan, Lead Editor for Spotify Philippines, today’s Filipino artists are creating music that is uniquely their own.
“What we’re hearing in OPM right now are artists who sound like no one but themselves. The songwriting is sharper, the sound and production is more adventurous, and the influences are coming from everywhere. As editors, we’re immersed in the artists, communities, and conversations shaping Filipino music every day—and this list reflects it. We’re excited for listeners to discover these 50 songs, the music that continues to soundtrack lives everywhere.”
Spotify’s editorial team listens to hundreds of songs across multiple genres every week. For this inaugural Editors’ Picks list, they carefully reviewed, discussed, and debated each track to create a collection that goes beyond charts and algorithms, placing human curation at the heart of music discovery.
Introducing the Editorial Watch Feed
Alongside the playlist, Spotify Philippines is also launching the Editorial Watch Feed, a new feature that offers listeners a deeper look into the stories behind the selections. Through editorial commentary, fans can discover the inspirations, conversations, and musical moments that influenced each pick, providing valuable context to the songs shaping OPM in 2026.
