Presented by PlayTime Entertainment and produced by Toplex Media and Entertainment, the 2026 MMFF is shaping up to be one of the most exciting editions of the annual festival, with four films already generating buzz among movie fans.

Second Miracle in Cell No. 7

Leading the first batch is Second Miracle in Cell No. 7, produced by Viva Communications. The sequel stars Aga Muhlach and is directed by Nuel Naval. Following the emotional success of the original film, the sequel is expected to continue the touching story that resonated with audiences and became one of the most beloved Filipino family dramas in recent years.

Amir

Another official entry is Amir, a moving drama starring Dennis Trillo and young actor Argus Aspiras. The film tells the story of a father and son who find themselves fighting for survival as darkness engulfs their village. Their journey explores themes of love, faith, sacrifice, and the extraordinary strength found within family, making it one of the festival’s most emotionally compelling entries.

Haunted Carnival

Horror fans can look forward to Haunted Carnival, a chilling supernatural thriller directed by Joey De Guzman from a screenplay by Alan Tijamo and John Paul E. Abellera. The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast led by John Arcilla, Julia Barretto, James Reid, Fyang Smith, RK Bagatsing, Ronnie Alonte, and Maricel Soriano. Described as a terrifying new chapter in the “Haunted” universe, the film combines folklore, mystery, and psychological horror inside a sinister carnival where spectacle and fear collide.

The Greatest Showdown

Perhaps the biggest surprise announcement is The Greatest Showdown, which marks the long-awaited first movie collaboration between comedy superstars Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto. Produced by Star Cinema and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jun Robles Lana, the film is already being hailed as one of the most anticipated entries of MMFF 2026, bringing together two of the country’s biggest box office icons in one blockbuster project.
