Davao City Revisited: Finding a Peaceful Sanctuary at Casa Leticia

Davao City has a way of pulling you back into its gentle rhythm, a city that feels both vastly transformed and comfortingly familiar. I first wandered these streets nine years ago with a group of friends, fueled by that restless energy of younger years and a packed itinerary. And finally returning nearly a decade later, I found myself seeking a different kind of experience—one defined by a slower pace and a touch of refined local character. We were here to explore new resto recommendations and things to do. And we wanted to explore additional coffee shops and resto. That search led us to Casa Leticia Boutique Hotel, a choice that proved so inspired we decided to extend our stay far beyond our original plans.

This summer trip feels relax and so is Casa Leticia. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, there was an immediate sense of arrival. Instead of the usual “copy-paste” feel you get from big international chains, Casa Leticia has this genuine, classic warmth that feels like a real slice of Davao. It’s the kind of place that’s stylish but still lets you kick off your shoes and truly relax. We actually ended up staying longer than planned because we just fell in love with its quiet charm and the way the staff looked after us. It stopped being just a base for our things and turned into a peaceful little sanctuary where we could actually breathe and unwind after a day out exploring.

My travel involves work so the first thing I did was to check if they have decent internet, and they did. Anyway, the rooms reflect a timeless sensibility, offering a cozy retreat that feels remarkably personal.

There is something to be said for a hotel that manages to feel both prestigious and intimate, providing a front-row seat to the city’s pulse while maintaining a serene atmosphere indoors. The hotel is quiet, something that I appreciate.

One of the best things about Casa Leticia is definitely the location—you’re right in the middle of everything. It’s just a quick, easy walk over to People’s Park, which is perfect if you want to catch some fresh air or just people-watch around the sculptures. Plus, having Gaisano Mall so close made life easy whenever we needed to grab a bite or do a bit of shopping. It really felt like the perfect home base because we were close to the city’s energy but still had these great green spaces nearby to escape to.

Whether we were enjoying a leisurely breakfast or simply appreciating the thoughtful details of the interiors, the hotel consistently reminded us why Davao remains such a compelling destination. Looking back at my first visit nearly ten years ago, the city has certainly grown, but finding a gem like Casa Leticia made this return trip feel like a much-needed homecoming.

If you’re looking to visit, Casa Leticia Boutique Hotel is located at  Jose Camus Street, Pelayo St, Poblacion District, Davao City.
