As of this writing, “Amazing 2” has already captured an impressive overseas gross of more than $200 million in just two weeks, and is expected to claim an opening of $100 million in the U.S. this weekend. Your friendly-neighborhood Spiderman is back once again as he continues to defend New York City against all odds while performing his boyfriend duties to Gwen Stacey and unfold the secrets of the past.
“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” is directed by Marc Webb and produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach. Screenplay by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci & Jeff Pinkner. Screen Story by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci & Jeff Pinkner and James Vanderbilt. Based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.
In the film, Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) feels there’s nothing quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: Oscorp.
In this franchise, our hero battles out against a big fan turned villain Electro and his former bestfriend and only heir of the OSCORP – Harry Osborne. Garfield was eager to return to the role for many reasons – not least of which is the fact that he’s a huge fan of the character. “I know how important it is to be a fan. I know what Spider-Man can do for kids – and for people who aren’t kids anymore,” he says. “For anyone who encounters the character, who has an affinity for him, it’s so reassuring when it’s done right. No matter what problems you have in your life, Spider-Man is there as evidence that you can get through it – because Peter Parker has all the problems of a kid, and he’s getting through it, too. He’s reaching out his hand to tell you it’ll be okay.”
What I liked most are Garfield-Stone scenes. They both have terrific chemistry, and while their scenes in the movie often feel like the film stalling out slightly they’re nice stalls. Well, there’s an underserved subplot with Aunt May taking nurses classes to send Peter to college that would be sweet if the movie did a single damn thing with it. Like everything that is not Gwen and Peter you could excise this subplot and have no impact on the film in any way, shape or form.
Here are some Memorable Lines and Quotes from the movie
The vigilante finally will discover how and why his parents died, how he can be of help to his bestfriend and how can a big fan can turn the tables and become a villain. Curious about what’s going to happen to the AMAZING Peter-Gwen love story? Yes, they kissed at Brooklyn Bridge overseeing The City that Never Sleeps and both graduated in High School, but the question is : Will Gwen leave for Oxford? What will happen to Harry Osborne and why is he interested with Spiderman’s blood?
I like all the SLOW MOTION EFFECTS in this movie. Including how they made Gwen Stacey stunningly beautiful in all her scenes.
