(MOVIE) Philippines’ Entry for 2014 OSCARS Best Foreign Language Film category is.. “TRANSIT”

I had a Hebrew overload last 9th Cinemalaya as I have seen TRANSIT. Produced by Director Paul Soriano, the cast of TRANSIT are Jasmine Curtis Smith, Ping Medina, Irma Adlawan, Mercedes Cabral, and Marc Justine Alvarez. Now Im so glad that this was selected for Academy Awards in the Category Best Foreign Film.

From The Woman in the Septic Tank Ang babae sa septic tank (2011) in 2011 and Bwakaw in 2012, we hope that TRANSIT will make it to the final cut of OSCARS 2013

The film, set in Herzliya, is about two single parents from the Philippines who decide to hide their children from the immigration police when the Israeli government began to forcibly deport the young children of foreign workers in 2009. The film won the best film prize in the New Breed section of the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival last month. It had a one week limited release in the Philippines on 11 Sep, qualifying it for the Academy Awards section. The drama is in English, Tagalog and Hebrew. The film’s main cast learnt Hebrew over Skype one month before shooting began. It was shot for nine days in Israel and one day at an airport in Bangkok in addition to scenes in the Philippines.
