Mixing traditional Filipino dances with hip-hop, Nocturnal Dance Company is from Commonwealth, Quezon City
They are considered as a “third generation” of the original Nocturnal Dance Company. Their choreographer is one of the members of the original group. The goal of NDC is to use their talents to glorify God and promote traditional Filipino dances.
Some members of the group are currently in college, while the others have stopped studying due to financial problems. The group’s choreographer Buddy Resulta, shared that it’s difficult to gather the group for practice because the kids’ parents won’t allow them to dance. The group had to find a way to show their parents that this is really their passion. Some members of the group will even sell “bote-dyaryo” just to earn money so they can commute to practices and competition.
They were once invited to a dance competition in Singapore, but they couldn’t go because they didn’t have the funds.
Dancing has taught the young members of the group the importance of discipline. They have stopped vices like smoking and focused their lives in helping their group and other people as well.
They joined Talentadong Pinoy to raise money to buy a jeepney for their group.
Winning the championship means everything to them. They are so determined to win that they are pushing themselves to their limit.
They feel that Filipinos will be proud of them if they win (and represent the country in WCOPA) because their performance is very Filipino.
