The lovable “master” Chef Boy Logro is literally taking his cooking show “Kusina Master” out for a ride via his six-wheeler mobile kitchen-studio, which is robotically programed to self-assemble and disassemble with the press of a button.
Through his mobile studio, Chef Boy wishes to bring the show closer to his audience by giving them a chance to witness his actual cooking and taping sessions plus treating them to a free taste of every dish that he concocts in the show. The segment, called “Turo Tours,” now opens every episode of “Kusina Master.”
A few weeks ago, Chef Boy taped for ten episodes using his truck at the Raja Sulayman Park in Malate, Manila with kapuso actress Alessandra de Rossi as celebrity guest and in Sta. Cruz, Manila (across the Sta. Cruz Church) with celebrity guest Jaya. The episodes shot in Sta. Cruz with Jaya currently airs until Friday, November 9, while the Raja Sulayman episodes with Alessandra will air next week.
The on-site cooking demos by Chef Boy attracted an audience which ranged from curious passers-by to die-hard fans of the “Master,” who were delighted to watch him do his entertaining tricks and his signature dance step. Several drivers and passengers of passing by vehicles stuck their heads out and shouted “Yum, yum, yum yum!,” an expression made popular by Chef Boy.
In an interview, Chef Boy said he is very pleased with the “Turo Tours” segment because it gives him the opportunity to share his knowledge to his viewers without them having to go to the studio.
“Ito ay parang pagpapasalamat natin sa ating mga viewer; parang regalo sa kanila ngayong Pasko na kung hindi sila makapunta sa Studio ay maaari pa rin nila akong makita nang live dito sa ating mobile studio,” says Chef Boy. “Isang malaking karangalan para sa akin na makapag-bigay ng aliw and at the same time ay nakakatulong tayo sa pamamagitan ng ating pagbabahagi ng ating nalalaman sa pagluluto,” he added.
Chef Boy’s truck is loaded with a working kitchen and a built-in audio and lighting equipment. It also carries its own power supply, which powers its robotic stage and roof assembly.
Last October 22, “Kusina Master” moved to an earlier time slot to make way for GMA’s new drama program “Cielo de Angelina” and the replay of the top-rating primetime series, “One True Love.”
“Ngayong 10:00am na ang ating show, sa tingin ko tamang-tama lang ang timing kasi ito rin yung time kung kailan nag-uumpisa nang maghanda para sa pagluluto ng tanghalian ang mga nanay sa bahay,” Chef Boy explained.
Chef Boy’s popularity especially among the mass audience is rooted in his down-to-earth disposition. Despite the aces up his sleeves, he never blew his own horns, instead, he made himself available to anyone who is interested in partaking of his culinary knowledge.
From his humble beginnings as a houseboy during his teenage years, he rose to greatness through sheer talent and years of perseverance, eventually landing the job as Chef of the Sultan of Oman and as Executive Chef of the Manila Diamond Hotel.
Chef Boy’s impressive cooking skills and his charm have made fans out of popular stars like Regine Velasquez-Alcasid and Marian Rivera. Marian even expressed interest in enrolling in Chef Boy’s culinary school to learn more from the “Master.”
“Flattered ako doon kasi hinahangaan ko po sila bilang sila ay mga sikat na artista. At para humanga sila sa akin ay isang karangalan po para sa akin iyon,” shared Chef Boy.
He added that Marian’s plans of taking a regular culinary course might have to wait until next year since the actress will surely be very busy with her new series, “Temptation of Wife.”
Apart from “Turo Tours,” several other segments will be introduced into “Kusina Master” in the coming weeks to keep the show fresh to the ever-changing palate of the viewers. The show has recently launched segments like Market Basket Challenge, Cook-along and Master Fiesta Dish.
“Kusina Master” is currently on its 11th month, making it one of the longest-running cooking shows on Philippine television. It aired its pilot episode on January 2, 2012.
