(MOVIE REVIEW) Four Sisters And A Wedding by Star Cinema, Graded B by Cinema Evaluation Board

What a feel good, family oriented movie that is worth watching! Ok, lets start with something I refuse to like. First, I know Rebisco is celebrating 50years of their existence. But I’m not really a fan of product placement in any movies, especially on a pre-20th anniversary offering. “Four Sisters And A Wedding” is an unforgettable light family drama about family relationships; siblings who have grown together and fell apart; and unconditional love is the initial offering of Star Cinema for the grand celebration of its 20th anniversary.

TRAILER

Like Direk Cathy, CJ, the character of Enchong in the film, is also the youngest among his siblings. As the movie opens, the family are disturbed by the youngest son’s announcement of a wedding. CJ shocked his four sisters–Teddie (Toni), Bobbie (Bea), Alex (Angel) and Gabbie (Shaina) that he will get married with Princess, her girlfriend for three-four months. Princess, and her family of rhinoplasty is not going to be an easy fit. She’s weird, uptight, weird again and dresses like someone who wears Bagua (chinese mirror). After the announcement, the four sisters will come together to stop the wedding. But it is in this coming together that they also face their issues among themselves as siblings and as a family.

ACTING

OK, BEA ALONZO is BEA ALONZO. This is real acting. I can imagine her doing a confrontation scenes for more than 50 minutes and still remain at par. She is very good!

TONI GONZAGA is the lifeline of the movie. Her wit and charm, plus a dramatic acting prowess should be recognized. She can make you laugh and cry without batting an eyelash.

ANGEL LOCSIN is equally talented. Without her in the movie, the plot wont be justified. Her timing is always right.

Enchong Dee and Shaina Magdayao are just fine. I love Shaina’s role. at least one of our siblings can relate to her. The task of writing the screenplay by Vanessa Valdez is quite a big job–to give an equal opportunity to everyone in terms of billing, dialogues, roles. This is base on original screenplay by Joey Reyes. Director Cathy Garcia Molina, establishes subplots around this central fact.

Four Sisters And A Wedding, is silly at times, leaning toward the screwball tradition of everyone racing around the house at the same time in a panic fueled by serial misunderstandings and plans to stop the wedding. I cried on Bea and Toni’s role and how they justified the characters are worth hearing.

5 FAVORITE SCENES

1. Coney Reyes confronted Carmi Raymundo on the game.

2. Bea-Angel confrontation scene.

3. The family grand confrontation scene.

4. The dinner.

5. Enchong Dee scene external (night) with fours sisters.

After watching this movie, you will have an understanding of how individuality resides within ourselves, as a brother, as a son or daughter. And how perception of life molded us to become a better person.
