Last week, I was able to attend the Press conference of the Philippines’ number one job site, JobStreet.com as they recently bared its plans to reach more Filipino jobseekers in 2013.
They also discuss the previous year’s trends in job seeking particularly those top jobs that are mostly sought by jobseekers and traits/skills they are looking for pinoys.
In an exclusive interview with Grace Colet, JobStreet.com’s country manager, it was revealed that to reach more and more Filipinos and link them with the job of their dreams. “We will then bring the event to the provinces… in Laguna, Cavite, Pampanga, Bacolod, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro and Davao.”
The leading job site estimates that the Manila leg alone will draw around 30,000 jobseekers vying for local and overseas job vacancies from over 300 participating top companies and POEA-licensed agencies.
Last year’s Manila career fair had hundreds of short-listed applicants and thousands more that were kept for reference by over 300 companies during the two-day hiring activity in June 2012.
They also played some testimonials of successful jobseekers and how jobstreet helped them find their dream jobs. Engr. Sendrick Valdez, one of the hundreds who got hired, shares “Pumila ako at sinubukan ko ang kapalaran ko sa career fair (I queued up and tried my luck at the career fair).” His patience paid off; he was handpicked as a mechanical and facilities engineer at a Philippine-based company engaged in the manufacture of industrial chemicals and sacrificial anodes for cathodic protection.
“Ang sarap ng feeling nung sabihing “You’re hired!” (It felt so good to hear them say, “You’re hired!”),” adds Valdez. “Sana marami pang makaramdam ng saya ko!” (I hope to share this feeling to others.).
JobStreet.com will hold career fairs in eight key cities nationwide. The career fair premieres in Manila this summer. There will be a JobStreet.com Career Fair in Manila on April 1 and 2 at SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.
