(BANKING) BDO to Charge 2 Pesos for every Cash Card Withdrawals (?)

I have been using BDO account since 2005. Payroll also uses BDO. Because aside from its accessibility through Malls around the country and being one of the banks with the most number of ATM Machines, BDO seems to be a good bank.

Now it appears that BDO will charge every Cash Cards withdrawal starting September 1 for 2 Pesos. I will try later on BDO ATM Machine should there be advisory on their screen. Will also wait for the announcement from Banco De Oro. BDO Cash Cards will be affected on this according to BDO, regular ATMs (Savings) not included.

BDO to start charging Php2 for every ATM withdrawalsBut what is BDO Cash Card compared to Regular ATM Savings?

According to BDO website, BDO Cash Card is a re-loadable prepaid electronic debit card. Without having to open a deposit account, you can enjoy the security and convenience of an ATM card – withdraw money and pay even without cash. On their website as well, the ,BDO ATM Balance Inquiry and Withdrawal is FREE (Which means not yet updated about this buzz)

But I still don’t know how it differs to Regular savings account (ATM).

Usually bank charges 10 to 11 pesos for interbank withdrawals.

Do you think its fair?

BDO now are talking. According to ABSCBN twitter ccount, @ABSCBNnews, here are the reasons

@ABSCBNnews: Jaime Nasol, head of BDO Cash Management Services on P2 fee: The P2 fee will only be effective on withdrawals using cash cards.. (1/3)

@ABSCBNnews: …or BDO prepaid cards similar to what other industry players are implementing. This is to partially recover our cost on cash handling.(2/3)

@ABSCBNnews: BDO account holders are not affected by this development. (3/3)

You know what, my take on this is that, you don’t announce bank deductions through your ATM Screens only. there is a proper way of handling and informing the public about this matter. The bank cant blame people who reacted ttht way because 2 Pesos is still 2 pesos.  #twocents
