A very sad news on Twitter changed my mood tonight. Dolphy, the King of Philippine Comedy passed away. Been waiting for more people to confirm it so I just tweeted #PrayForDOLPHY. A few minutes then, my friend in entertainment and television very close to the Quizon family confirmed it. Dolphy died due to multiple organ failure at 8:34PM at the Makati Medical Center. In an official statement, the hospital said he passed awaydue to multiple organ failure secondary to complications brought about by severe pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and acute renal failure.
For this news to be accepted by someone who looked up at his contribution to the industry and his influence to good moral values he shared every week at his own sitcom, it is very painful.
Last weekend, I watched his 1966 movie JAMES BATMAN. He is very promising. An actor of pure comic even I’m/we’re no longer here on earth.

I grew up watching television. And one of my favorite shows of all time would be HOME ALONG DA RILES, starring Dolphy as Mang Cosme. Home Along Da Riles is a family situation comedy depicting the lives of a typical Filipino family living alongside the railroad tracks. The Kosmes are poor and, as a running gag, their house looks as if it will fall apart every time a train passes. The income of Mang Kevin (played by Dolphy), the main character, barely meet the needs of his five children; yet they are happy, content and have a very positive outlook on life.
I am fond of him lecturing and sharing lessons at the end of every episode. Seriously, it breaks my heart to know the he just passed away.
I only met him once, during the time when he’s really strong. But the last time I saw Dolphy, he wasn’t in the best of health. We offered a prayer for his recovery, the social media has been an avenue for making all the information possible, including asking for prayers.
He left a legacy. I can always remember his happy face. His happy aura that gives everyone a vibes that cant be denied. He made us laugh, taught us lessons about family, friendship and positivity.
While everyone is busy shifting career form Showbizness to Politics, he decided not to run for election. It draws a lot of shared respect from everyone. ““Doon ako natatakot eh. Baka manalo ako. Madaling tumakbo, paano kung manalo?”
Mang Kevin Cosme, we will miss you. But we will not forget all the values you imparted us. THANK YOU!
