In my five years in the blogging community, one of the important lessons Ive learn is to give back. Giving back means not having everything in this world, but to give something of yourself that is detrimental to make someone, some people happy. And my own little way of responding to my social responsibility is to support a cause. A cause that would make a big difference to someone’s life.
As a blogger, I know I am under a fruitful and evolving community of providing the new platform of sharing an information. We as the member of NEW MEDIA dedicates to the proposition that all press people serves equally. And that means serving a purpose. That is why I have been open to supporting charities and any kind way I could that will make use of my humble influence to reach people.
For instance, When Habitat for Humanity Philippines asks me months ago if I can give them a space on my blog to reach people to donate for our fellows who are in need, I automatically said yes. I know this is one of my best way to help the organization that I believe in.
This month, Habitat For Humanity launches the new campaign that involves bloggers to participate. This is I guess the first in Asia to conduct a project involving online influencers. Dubbed as social media for social change. I have know the organization for quite sometime and I know Habitat acknowledges the power of social media. In its effort to maximize social media to help reach more people with its mission, Habitat held its first “Social Media Circle”, a gathering of bloggers and social media enthusiasts with a heart for social change; the event is also Habitat’s way of honoring its online supporters.
The Campaign Objectives are the following:
• To build valuable relationship with key social media influencers who will serve as Habitat’s spokespersons online.
• To boost Habitat’s presence and visibility in key social media sites.
• To reach a wider audience online— increase Facebook likes and Twitter/Instagram followers.
• To utilize social media channels as a potential tool to drive donations, volunteer sign-ups, and advocacy support.
We hold a photoshoot as well to increase campaign awareness to drive more contributions for Habitat for Humanity Philippines
Habitat hopes to inspire these people to continue supporting Habitat’s work in their own way and through their own network of influence. With the undeniable power and vast reach of social media, Habitat is excited at the prospect of engaging more volunteers, donors, and advocates through this support group.
I am glad to be a part of this campaign!
