Most Pinoys root for various contestants in reality competitions on Cable TV and dream of their chance of hitting it big on the global stage, but one Pinay is already poised to take the world by storm. VOM is a global singing contest exclusive to McDdonald’s restaurant crew and managers. This contest is open to more than 1.6M McDonald’s employees found in 118 countries worldwide, culminating at the Worldwide Convention to be held in Orlando, Florida on April 26.
Rafols, a Second Assistant Manager at McDonald’s Sta. Lucia, is the country’s bet for the global semi-finals, besting 12 other contestants from the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APMEA) regional finals to become one of the 16 Global Semi-Finalists—4 per area of the world (AOW): North America, Latin America, Europe and APMEA.
Each Global Semi-Finalist will compete against the other Global Semi-Finalists from their respective AOW. After this round, the 4 winners from each AOW will continue on to compete in the finals for the chance to be the Voice of McDonald’s Season 4 Global Grand Winner. At stake is a cash prize of $25,000 and an opportunity to record a voice-over in an upcoming DreamWorks® Animation movie.
Unique to this season is the Fan Favorite component – a chance at one more honor and a cash prize of $5,000, before the Worldwide Convention. Videos of the 16 global semi-finalists are posted for audiences to get a taste of each contestant’s singing prowess.
During the last 3 seasons of VOM seasons, the Philippines is always a top contender, most recent was Chenee Capuyan, hailing from Davao as Voice of McDonald’s Global Grand Winner in Season 3.
