There’s no stopping for the much anticipated and biggest family drama series as ABSCBN will finally air BUDOY. Last Friday, a star studded special screening of Premiere week of the series was held at the PODIUM together with celebrity friends, associates from Media and Blogging community. All of the cast including Gerald Anderson himself graced the occasion. “Budoy” brings together a powerhouse cast composed of promising young stars Jessy Mendiola and Enrique Gil; legendary luminaries of Philippine movie industry including Dante Rivero, Gloria Sevilla and Barbara Perez; and seasoned actors namely Tirso Cruz III, Zsa-Zsa Padilla, Mylene Dizon, Christian Vazquez, and Janice de Belen who makes a comeback in the Kapamilya network.
I opted not to give a short summary of the story of BUDOY as what I have seen is just a first week episodes. Drama prince Gerald Anderson shared excitement over his latest Primetime Bida series. “Napakaganda ng paglalakbay na ipakikita sa atin ni Budoy. Aside from the powerhouse cast, there are a lot of values in life and family that the viewers can learn from the story,” he said.
I think that this is one of the biggest offering of ABSCBN in terms of story, affection and impact on televiewers. I would have to say I cried over few scenes confronting Janice De Belen and heartbreaking Zsa Zsa Padilla. From the story we will reflect on how are we treating our fellow in terms of physical attributes, shortcomings and reputation.
They said (Production Team) That what we have seen is just the introduction of what will happen, bigger revelations on the series. So we are expecting more secrets to be revealed. Im sure also that Gerald is very happy that night with all the reactions from Press and guests. Playing the title role of a boy suffering from a delay in mild retardation, Gerald confessed that he is blessed to have been immersed in Budoy’s character. “Napakalaking tulong sa pagganap ko ang immersion na ginawa namin. Mas lumalim ang pagkilala ko kay Budoy at na-inspire ako sa pagmamahal niya sa pamilya at sa sipag at determinasyon niyang harapin ang buhay.”
I also got the chance to ask Ms Janice De Belen during that night on how does she feels working on the new generation of stars.
(sic)
First introduced to the Philippine audience via the reality TV show Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition, Gerald worked his way up to become one of this generation’s most sought-after leading men through soap operas like “Sana Maulit Muli,” “My Girl,” “Tayong Dalawa” and “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo.”
Witness a different Gerald in “Budoy” and see how he transformed to a role which he described as “different and refreshing.” How can a family blessing turn into a family shame? How can a family disown their own flesh and blood in the name of an unblemished reputation? Can a mentally-challenged boy survive the discriminating eyes of the society?
Under the direction of Ruel S. Bayani and Tots Sanchez-Mariscal, Budoy is set to highlight the value of education among the Filipino youth while stressing those individuals known to be mentally-challenged.
Don’t miss the newest Primetime Bida teleserye “Budoy,” Weeknights on ABS-CBN.
The series made me cry. I recommend this to everyone.
