The Realme 12 Pro+ 5G Unboxing and First Impression

Last week, I teased you with a comparison of photos taken from my iPhone 12 Pro Max and an upcoming smartphone. I only revealed it after a few days, and now that it is out of the bag, yes, the realme 12 Series 5G has arrived!

This time let me share with you my inboxing and first impression of the realme 12 PRO+ 5G. This new realme superstar is definitely making a bold statement with its camera system, particularly the innovative 64MP Periscope Portrait Lens. First, let’s see what’s inside the box.

In the box of realme 12 Pro+ 5G

• 67W SUPERVOOC Charging Adapter
• Type A to Type C USB Cable
• Warranty Card
• Safety Guide
• Quick Guide
• SIM Ejector Pin
• Protect Case

First of all, I am very excited with its look and texture. Design wise it looks good on all my outfit lately. Look at that camera ring! The phone doesn’t just excel in capturing moments; it displays them beautifully on its 6.7-inch, 53° Curved OLED display. With a FHD+ resolution, a high pixel density, and a near bezel-less design, the viewing experience is truly immersive.

For starters, this is co-designed with Ollivier Savéo, who is an international luxury watch design master. I will share more of that in the next article.

I noticed when I unbox this unit, its comes with a power supply charging Wattage: 67W SUPERVOOC Charge. I tried it and this should be the bare minimum in all of the charger for smartphones. Super fast!

The era of pixelated zooms is long gone. With its 3x Telephoto Zoom for taking portraits that seem natural, 6x In-Sensor Zoom for going even closer, and an incredible 120x SuperZoom for those far-off moments you wouldn’t want to miss, the 64MP Periscope Portrait Lens offers a flexible combination.

As someone who has tried a lot of smartphones lately, the 64MP Periscope Portrait Lens is just one star in the realme 12 Pro+ 5G’s camera constellation. It’s accompanied by a powerful 50MP Sony IMX890 OIS Camera, capturing exceptional low-light and high-dynamic-range images.

Here’s a shot I took yesterday here at Santiago Cove Hotel Ilocos Sur while having a breakfast!

This combination, along with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, promises a smooth and powerful photography experience.

• Front: 32MP Sony IMX615

Going Head-to-Head: Realme vs. iPhone:

In my initial testing, the Realme 12 Pro+ 5G held its own against the iPhone 12 Pro Max, a well-established photography powerhouse. While a more in-depth comparison requires further testing, the Realme’s zoom capabilities and overall image quality impressed me, particularly considering its competitive price point.

Here are some of my test shots which I also shared on my facebook page.
