Star Cinema’s Rewind Now the Highest Grossing Filipino Film Of All Time!

This is my final, legitimate box office update for the recently concluded 49th Metro Manila Film Festival. As I focus on the record-breaking ticket sales of the top-grossing film from Star Cinema, here are the milestones of the movie Rewind.

REWIND IS NOW THE HIGHEST GROSSING FILIPINO FILM OF ALL TIME!

Context: In Philippine domestic box office, REWIND is now the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time. It’s worldwide gross is 845 Million as of January 17, 3 p.m. The domestic box office gross of #Rewind is higher than #HelloLoveGoodbye and #HowsOfUs.
As of press time, mataas ang worldwide gross ng Hello Love Goodbye, #Rewind is now the highest grossing Filipino film of all time because it topped gross receipts domestically. That’s the context of the Highest Grossing Filipino Film of All Time title.

  • Consistent number 1 among the 10 festival entries from start to finish.
  • It crossed the 100 million mark (103 million) at around 10 p.m. on December 27, marking the only film to breach the 9-figure mark.
  • At the end of the December 29 screening, Rewind’s gross ballooned to 215 million, surpassing Vice Ganda’s ending gross from the 2022 MMFF, Partners in Crime.
  • Rewind welcomed 2024 with a bang after grossing 368 million pesos at the end of January 1, making it the highest grossing film not only for MMFF but for the entire year 2023, beating A Very Good Girl in gross sales.
  • As of today, January 17, the running worldwide gross receipt of Rewind is now 845 Million as of 3 p.m.
  • Domestically, Rewind earned 815 Million and counting.

Directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar, “Rewind” is the official entry of ABS-CBN Film Productions Inc. (Star Cinema), APT Entertainment, Inc., and Agosto Dos Pictures.

  • The film initially had a limited release on December 25, 2023, but due to its strong performance and positive word-of-mouth, its theatrical run was extended until January 14, 2024.
  • “Rewind” is a drama film starring Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera. It tells the story of a couple who are given the chance to relive their past and change their mistakes.
  • The film’s success is attributed to its relatable story, charming performances by the lead actors, and strong marketing campaign. That is the magic of Star Cinema.
  • The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), which began on December 25, 2023, stated that the total gross receipts of its ten film festival entries had achieved a record-breaking figure of P1.069 billion as of January 7.
  • Kathryn Bernardo currently holds the crown of starring in the highest grossing Filipino films of all time for “Hello, Love, Goodbye” and “The Hows of Us.”. Both of these films, made by Kathryn opposite Alden Richards and Daniel Padilla, respectively, were produced by Star Cinema.
  • Four of the Vice Ganda MMFF movies breached the 500 million mark.
