I got the chance to grace the premiere of BABAE at BARIL film starring one of the most beautiful faces in entertainment, Janine Gutierrez. The film has its promise and I am loving the scoring put into the film. Janine is at her best portraying the character.
Ok for starters, BABAE AT BARIL is a story of a saleslady in a local department store finds a gun right on her doorstep. Suddenly, she can do anything she wants, talk back to whoever she wants, and even hurt anyone she wants after discovering how much power owning a gun can give her.

Also starring Felix Roco, Elijah Canlas, JC Santos and Sky Teotico, with special participation of Ruby Ruiz, Allan Paule and Archie Adamos.BABAE AT BARIL is an official entry to Qcinema, produced by Cignal Entertainment and Epicmedia.
The movie had a few subtle references to the the critically acclaimed Joaquin Phoenix starrer. But Babae at Baril has a completely different take, clarifies Direk Red.
“Babae comes from the province, she doesn’t know that much about the life here in Manila. She’s very out of place but that will change, and her personality will flip. For me, I felt like I portrayed two roles for this. So far, I don’t remember playing a similar character,” Janine said during the film’s media conference last Monday.
While I actually agree with Direk Red, I wish the film went to a different path or maybe I prefer it could have been a different plot. But as I said, Janine, JC and Felix did a great job here.
Janine shared that she didn’t have to undergo any training for the movie, especially how to properly hold a gun. “I didn’t do any training at all. Babae picks up a gun. She doesn’t know anything about it given her personality. Director Rae doesn’t want me to train anymore so my acting will come natural, that the things I know are the only ones that my character knows too,” she added.
If anything, the role reminds her of Atty. Grace Evangelista of Legally Blind. “She (Atty. Grace) really doesn’t back down. Her character shows the power of women. But Babae is on a whole other level,” admitted Janine.
