I have mix emotion over these announcements from the Metro Manila Development Authority regarding the eight (8) Official entries for the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival. First, it is totally different from the past years with major Festival producers competing over box office results. This year, we don’t have Vice Ganda, Vic Sotto or Kris Aquino fighting over the number of Cinema distribution. I believe this year they selected what is best and qualified to be part of the Magic 8.
Early this year I blogged about the criteria of the Festival to be an official entry for 2016. These qew
40% for story, audience appeal and overall impact;
40% for cinematic attributes or technical expertise;
10% for global appeal;
10% for Filipino sensibility.
And according to the the MMFF Organizers, here are the official entries that will be screened starting Christmas Day December 25, 2016.
