(APP) Grab Taxi Now Officially Available in Davao City!

There is something in Davao that makes me wanna go back. Aside from its people, what I have noticed every time I visit this city is the reputable and honest taxi drivers, including their commitment to serve passengers is way beyond gold standard. Well good news that this month marks the official launch of Grab Taxi in Davao City!

For starters, GrabTaxi is a free-to-download mobile application allowing passengers to book cabs with just a few taps on their phones. GrabTaxi aims to improve taxi markets by introducing simple, cost effective mobile-based technology to both supply (taxi fleet and drivers) and demand (passenger) that will optimize the matching process between both. For information on how you can easily download and/or literally experience Grab Taxi, kindly click my first blog about it HERE: How to GRAB A TAXI Article.

Davao City is the third city in the country to experience Grab Taxi. In fact in terms of numbers, Davao has around 4,500 taxis serving the entire Davaoenos. Davao is the 17th City to have a Grab Taxi up and running. The event was hosted by no other Bogart the Explorer!

Together with some online media friends, we were there to grace the event.

Natasha Bautista, Assistant General Manager of Grab Taxi Philippines announced that there were over 2.1 million downloads of the GRAB TAXI APP and 600,000 came from the Philippines! Wow! She also mentioned that there were 2 Grab Taxi bookings in every seconds. The community of Grab Taxi including its relationship to passengers evolved very fast! I am a witness on how Grab Taxi grow in terms of market penetration.

In the Philippines, the economic effect of Grab Taxi to Taxi Drivers are actually a big upgrade. From their regular average daily income, they are now earning from 30-300% from just using the Grab Taxi App! Paulo Evalle, Drivers Experience Head shares how it is beneficial to use Taxi Drivers. From safety to GPS monitoring, Grab Taxi really paved the way of a very organized commuting experience.  Using Grab Taxi, Taxi operators (who also present during the launch) can now track who among their drivers are the best and the worst. Davao drivers are very obedient; they abide by the rules.

The GrabTaxi app has a safety tracking feature where passengers can book a taxi and watch it drive towards the pick-up point, as well as access the taxi’s plate number, driver’s name and phone number, all of which can be shared to loved ones via email or social networking sites.

“We only get the best and nicest drivers in each taxi fleet to ensure the safety of our passengers. This is also a good opportunity for them to have an extra source of income as we offer benefits and incentives to drivers who perform well,” said GrabTaxi CEO Anthony Tan.

And here I am with 3 of my blogger friends who experience Grab Taxi in Davao on its launch! Ruth Floresca from mommywrites, Ruth Dela Cruz from ruthdelacruz.com and Ryan from ryansanjuan.com
