In the last 4 years, I decided to embark on a healthier lifestyle by going to the gym regularly and a sort of a proper diet. I know I didnt take that seriously but it opened a lot of opportunity for me to try a lot of options. That includes exploring obstacle courses. But I still have worries of joining because I know joining one requires practice and consistency.
This month, I get to know a lifestyle event that I think I will be interested in joining in. This summer, Medicard, a leading health and maintenance organization in the country, makes this fun and thrilling experience of an obstacle course through the Medicard Supremo Obstacle Challenge, a first and one-of-a-kind activity that aims to promote a healthier and fitter lifestyle. For starters, Medicard is the first health and maintenance organization founded and managed by doctors. Over the years, it has provided the most comprehensive and innovative health care programs and fitness activities that help people achieve a healthier life.
What is interesting about the Medicard Supremo Obstacle Challenge is that everyone can join, including me who are kind of not into obstacle challenges. All you have to do is register to www.medicardlifestyle.com. For Php 1,500 only, you’ll get a shirt, gym bag, and headband. The culminating activity will be on May 31 at the Glorietta Activity Center.
During the press event, they announced that professional coaches will help participants achieve the right condition. They call it conditioning program. They will monitor and supervise your progress and make an evaluation of your readiness to know if you are a beginner or an advanced athlete. The coaches also developed workout programs suited to the participants of both categories. conditioning programs, which are more like training classes, will be held from March 16 to May 31.
Here are the schedules:
Eton Centris in Quezon City (TBA)
Festival Mall Alabang (April 20 to May 1),
and Ayala Triangle in Makati (May 4 to May 15).
The presscon is even more interesting, they prepared a glimpse of what should happen during the conditioning program.
Unlike other aerobic and exercise activities, Supremo Obstacle Challenge combines several workout routines to test the agility, flexibility, balance, cardiology, dexterity, and the endurance of each participant through a combination of cardio, running, and rope exercises, as well as Crossfit workouts through the use of dumbbells and short but high-intensity exercises. Here are some race activities both for beginners and advanced category.
Ok just to entice you with the program, the group also counts in its ranks several of the country’s recognized fitness experts such as Andrea Arcega, former head coach of Spartan Race Philippines, Mark Lamson, one of the elite athletes in the country, Cilyn Abella, a four-year coach at the Complete Fitness in Ortigas, Nolan Collado, a physical therapist, CrossFit coach Raymond Manual, Vlad Salum, also a CrossFit trainer and more.
PRIZES.
Well ofcourse there are prizes to gun for! The top three male and top three female participants from both the beginners and advanced categories will get to compete in the culminating event. If you are one of these qualifiers, you will be asked to train some more at the Pretty Huge Obstacle at the SM Aura in Taguig City. And then, all the qualifiers will converge at the Glorietta Activity Center to compete for the PhP25,000 cash prize for the 1st place, PhP15,000 for the 2nd place, and PhP10,000 for the 3rd place winners, respectively.
