And one athlete proudly stood up for the country in the prestigious sports event – Michael Martinez, the first figure skater from the Philippines and Southeast Asia.
This Saturday, March 1, Chiqui Roa-Puno gives us an in-depth look at the lone representative of the Philippines to the 2014 Winter Olympic Games held in Sochi, Russia. Get to know Michael better with stories from his family, friends and important people who saw the potential of a future Olympic figure skater. TV5 also followed Michael during his stint in Sochi as he faced the biggest competition of his life.
The spotlight on Michael Martinez shone brighter as he returned home last February 23 where arrived to a hero’s welcome. Thousands of fans were enthralled at seeing him perform live in the special meet-and-greet hosted by SM.
