(TV) DZMM Lone Philippines Finalist in Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Prizes 2013

DZMM Radyo Patrol 630, the leading AM station in Mega Manila, made it as the lone Philippine broadcasting company to make it as finalist in three categories in the prestigious Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Prizes 2013 to be held in Hanoi, Vietnam on October 28.

Veteran broadcast journalist Ted Failon is up against other caliber news personalities from Iran’s IRIB, Australia’s ABC and New Zealand’s RNZ in the Best On-Air Personality Category for his commentary program “Failon Ngayon.”

“Habagat,” a special news coverage on several days of rains and floods that Metro Manila and nearby provinces experienced early part of August last year  is nominated in the News Reporting Category against entries from Hong Kong’s RTHK, Australia’s ABC and New Zealand’s RNZ.

Its elections promo campaign, “DZMM Halalan 2013,” meanwhile, is a finalist in the Radio Special Jury Prize and will compete against entries from Vietnam’s VOV, Malaysia’s RTM and Bangladesh’s Radio Broadcasting FM.

In 2007, DZMM’s “Alas-Onse y Media,” now RPB Alas Dose, won the ABU Prize for News Program (Radio) for its coverage on typhoon Reming in the Bicol Region.

Established in 1964, ABU is a non-profit, non-government, professional association with 255 members across 63 countries that assists in the development of broadcasting.
