The 24th Awit Awards was held last night at the Music Museum by the PARI (THE PHILIPPINE ASSOCIATION OF THE RECORD INDUSTRY, INC.)
Pambansang banda Parokya ni Edgar nabbed four top honors from the recently concluded 24th Awit Awards, held at the Music Museum.Parokya ni Edgar, with the song Pangarap Lang Kita from the album Middle-Aged Juvenile Novelty Pop Rocker, swept the awards for Best Performance by a Group, Best Ballad Recording, Best Collaboration (with Happee Sy), while the track Pakiusap Lang (Lasingin Niyo Ako) won Song of the Year.
Juris’ solo effort paid off, her debut album ”Now Playing” under Star Records took home Album Of the Year. “Faithfully” by Jovit Baldivino was hailed as the Best Selling Album. Christian Bautista and Karylle were given a special recognition for being part of “The Kitchen Musical”. Asian sensations Karylle and Christian Bautista, also named the most downloaded artist because his numerous hits from his Romance Revisited album, were also recognized for bringing pride to the country with their successful stint in the Pan-Asian series The Kitchen Musical.
They also performed their version of Please Be Careful With My Heart. Prince of Soul JayR, nominated for his JayR Sings OPM Love Classics album as Album of the year, performed a stirring rendition of Ikaw Lamang, while Zia Quizon sang her debut hit single Ako Na Lang.
