An initial effort of 127 families will benefit from the relief packs prepared by MHR
The project aims to raise funds for areas in Mactan, Cebu devastated by Typhoon Odette. When you stay in Belmont Hotel Manila or Savoy Hotel Manila within Newport City in Pasay across NAIA terminal 3, Kingsford Hotel Manila located in the Entertainment City of Paranaque, Hotel Lucky Chinatown in Binondo, Twin Lakes Hotel near Tagaytay, Eastwood Richmonde Hotel in Quezon City, Richmonde Hotel Ortigas in Pasig, Richmonde Hotel Iloilo in Iloilo Business Park of Iloilo City, Belmont Hotel Boracay or Savoy Hotel Boracay located at the Newcoast Boracay or even in Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown in Cebu, trust that a portion of your nightly stays within the month of January of this year will automatically proceed to the cause. Dining guests may also have the option to donate by informing the restaurant’s wait staff before billing out.
Cleofe Albiso, Managing Director and a local of Cebu City herself, shares “It saddens us that we ended 2021 with a strong typhoon Odette that devastated many parts of the Visayas and Mindanao regions, stripping homes and businesses of its necessities. What’s inspiring though is that despite the personal battles we are faced with & amid the pandemic, people’s willingness to help and extend assistance is just as strong.
Albiso further ads that “we did an initial campaign amongst our associates to help our other employees affected by the typhoon” and the response was overwhelming. Hotel property employees have already successfully gathered and distributed php 200,000 worth of donations through relief packs and cash donations. A total of 125 families will be receiving tote bags containing essentials like water, canned and dry good as well as clothing amongst other items. She further adds “this is a testament to people’s willingness to help and share. We are extending this opportunity to help to our guests and partners”.
The company’s next focus is targeting specific schools that needs help in rebuilding. All donations will go to construction materials and manpower plus school supplies necessary for kids to get back to a more conducive learning experience again. She further adds that “Our team through Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown are currently surveying possible schools within Mactan in dire need of this assistance”. The project will take at least a month to finish depending on the damage and how soon help and supplies can come in to start the construction phase.
