How Reina Ng Tahanan Segment Inspired Vice Ganda To Do More

If there’s one show during this pandemic that we religiously watch here at home, it is definitely ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime because not only they remain committed to its audience but also because noontime is also time where I sit with Mom for lunch. I remember there were couple of months when it is paired with Game KNB replays which is my favorite back in the days.

But what interests me even more is that when they launched a new segment called “Reina ng Tahanan” where Filipino moms get the beauty queen treatment and their much-deserved moment in the spotlight. It was one of the best TV segments that surprised me while we are still in Pandemic.

I have heard that Vice Ganda helped conceptualize and develop this newest top-rating segment on “It’s Showtime.” This is not surprising at all given that Vice continuously pledge her love for her Mom whenever there’s a chance. Something that I actually admire about her.

Back to its pilot episode, I was literally touched with how the segment went because finally our Moms now get an opportunity to unwind & share heartwarming lessons and stories. The segment was divided in different stage the “Queentroduction, the Greatest Showmom and this heartwarming round, “Inay Thank You” where the ‘Reinanay’s’ have to answer a question that they will be hearing for the first time ever from a surprise guest.

I have seen a lot of plots and shows about tribute to Mothers but Reina Ng Tahanan proved that Showtime once again proves, through its entire team and Vice Ganda, that it is indeed game changer and a trendsetter. When asked about their reactions on the success of the segment, Vice Ganda shares,

Aside from Tawag Ng Tanghalan and Name it to Win It which I truly enjoyed, Reina Ng Tahanan brings so much closer to home and glad that If Im not mistaken, it is now the main segment of the program and having an extra longer airtime on the show.

ReiNanay Erlvine expresses her gratitude to her sister for looking out for her children.

Actually If I get the chance to guest Vice Ganda on my vlog, I will have to choose to talk about her love for parents because there is so much to learn from her experience. She once shared this,

I realized na hindi nauubos ang iba’t-ibang uri ng mga Nanay. Ang species ng mga nanay ay mas madami pa sa species ng mga isda. Madaming uri ng mga Nanay. And we cannot stereotype them. Madaming hugis, madaming kuwento, madaming kinds.

Ang common sa kanila ay ang pagmamahal nila sa kani-kanilang mga pamilya, –pagmamahal sa kanilang mga asawa at kanilang mga anak.

Reina ng Tahanan is definitely not just a segment came to life. For me it is one of the best segments premiered this pandemic to remind us about the things that really matter. And it can actually stand as a separate show that needs more air time.

“We are inspired to na lalong pagandahin ang segment. Inspired kami kasi maganda talaga ang kinalabasan ang segment.” Vice shared.

Ang sarap mag-work araw araw knowing na madami kaming napapasaya at nabibigyan namin ng outlet ang napakadaming mga Nanay na i-express ang sarili nila at i-showcase ang mga talents nila. We are pumped-up and inspired to outdo ourselves every day and we are so happy to entertain our viewers. She concludes.
