(LIFESTYLE) What World Vision’s “Hope Town” Exhibit Taught Me

I have known the efforts made by World Vision from the past years and since I started blogging, World Vision opened my eyes to more avenues and ways related volunteerism, uplifting lives and ways to help our less fortunate Kababayans.

This week, World Vision in its effort to widen its reach and increase partnerships to many Filipinos, they brought the replica of the realities of life through HOPE TOWN. Hope Town is an experiential booth featuring a day in the life of one of its sponsored children, Nica. This booth is now located at the TriNoma Cinema lobby (4th floor in front of Krispy Kreme) from January 27 to February 09, 2020.

By the looks of the house of Nica and her medals hanging on the wall, it brought me back to the scholars I met few years ago in Bulacan. How they trying to survive schooling despite the challenges in life. It was, for me an eye opener for many– both able and unable to provide for school fees. From that moment, I got reminded how lucky I am, us to be able to finish school.

As World Vision wanted to bring the efforts and what was happening after one donated to the organization. Hope town symbolizes all the dreams waiting to be reached. The public gets to witness Nica’s story come to life as they enter the booth which is an exact replica of her home and community in North Cebu. At the end of the walkthrough awaits another exciting experience in a whole new dimension thru a VR video with a 360 perspective of Nica’s life.

Our participation in the campaign is to encourage mall-goers to visit the booth. The unveiling of Hope Town was attended by World Vision Ambassadors Inigo Pascual, Enzo Pineda, and Bianca Umali together with World Vision National Director Rommel Fuerte.

The Ambassadors also roamed around the mall and invited people to visit and see what the Hope Town has to offer through a short challenge. Some of my blogger friends slash World Vision advocates like Rodel Flordeliz of Nognog in the City, Ria Lumandog of Sugar Smile, Earth Rullan of Earthlingorgeous, Ed Uy of Where is Ed Uy?, and Jeman Villanueva of Orange Magazine TV also joined the activities.

“We invite everyone to become part of the transformational development that is happening in the lives of the most vulnerable children. As our Hope Town Experiential Booth ushers you into the journeys of our communities, I pray that God will make known to you the path of life that is full of joy and blessings forever. Thank you for your support to the Filipino children and to World Vision Philippines,” said Fuerte.

There was a challenge during the launch, that is to invite as many people to see Nica’s life through the experiential booth. I was partnered with Inigo Pascual and Hazel Lumandog. the most number of people to bring wins a prize.

After the challenge, we are one of the group that got declared the winner and it was very challenging yet fulfilling experience.

When asked about how easy/hard it is to invite people, some of the world vision ambassador share how hard it is to just approach random people despite them being popular. Because they know time is very important to everyone, they need to be more convincing that their time will not be wasted by just visiting the HopeTown booth.

More than the opportunity to work with World vision through this campaign, Hope Town made me realize that it is indeed important to look back and extend our hands because someone out there, is waiting for the support. Someone out there is dreaming big, and there is something we can do, to make that dreams come true.

Hope Town is made possible with a partnership from brand activation company Excite Inc., Max’s Restaurant, ComCo Southeast Asia. For updates on future locations, like and follow World Vision Philippines on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram or visit the official website, www.worldvision.org.ph.
