Some weeks ago, I was checking some good notebook from a popular brand. To be honest, I am actually sold on their specs but the major hold up for me in buying that preference is the price range. It looks like I am paying for price because of the brand name’s goodwill. That being said, I checked some notebooks from ASUS, one of the brands I know for quite sometime. And though not surprised, I was happy that they are introducing the complete lines from the ASUS Vivobook series. Hence, I am sharing you my take on ASUS VivoBook X412.
Okay for starters, let me refresh you with the recent ones I have tested from the ASUS Zenbook series, the ASUS ZenBook Flip UX562 and ASUS Zenbook S13 US392! These two have merits on its own, well being the trusted Zenbook on its roster. For the ASUS VivoBook X412, I have learned that it is one of the VivoBook pride for this batch. And what better way to understand and get familiarize with its beauty is to fully test it.
As I was saying, there are four (4) Vivobooks ASUS is introducing this time, these are ASUS VivoBook X420, ASUS VivoBook X412, ASUS VivoBook X512 and ASUS VivoBook X712. Among the four, X412 and X512 are being offered in different vibrant colors. I’m going to focus on X412. It weighs 1.5 kg, 14 inches in size and has dual storage.
I like this one because it fits in my favorite backpack I bought in Korea. The sleek bag that contains always everything I needed. the size of ASUS X412 perfectly fits!
Looking at the notebook itself, you’ll see that ASUS managed to fulfill its promise to deliver that slim bezel. It has four-sided NanoEdge display and up to 5.7mm sides with up to 88% screen-to-body-ratio.
I was happy when ASUS launched its innovative ErgoLift Hinge in their notebooks. Up to now, it is considered one of the brave bold moves in notebook competition given the old issues of comfort and design. ASUS VivoBooks are all stylish as well with its ErgoLift design.
Major consideration for me as well are the ports haha! As I need to maximize my laptop experience, I checked if ASUS VivoBook has all that I need and it didn’t disappoint! VivoBook X412 has different I/O ports such as USB-C 3.1, USB 2.0, USB 3.1 Gen 1, an HDMI and Micro SD Card slot.
Also, thank God for ASUS commitment to security because it has a fingerprint sensor to keep our confidential data private! With a single touch assistance, it is safe to work outside without worrying about your files.
And If you want to work under dim environments, VivoBooks are equipped with it full-size backlit keyboard. Aside from the ErgoLift hinge, X412 has a 1.3mm key travel where we can experience typing comfortably with long keystrokes. I myself is a fast typist so I always look for a smooth typing so all my ideas don’t get lost.
I tested its viewing experience since most of the time I’d like to watch videos on my free time. Ive noticed that it has up to 178-degree wide viewing angle and up to FHD display. Very impressive exceptional color reproduction. Of course I watch my vlog here haha to check its pixels. ASUS VivoBook has up to 30% blue-light reduction for more comfortable reading. It also has Tru2Life video technology that optimizes each pixel in the video.
Okay let’s discuss its processors because I am sure you know how much this one performs. ASUS VivoBook X412 has a powerful CPU and high-speed DDR4 RAM to challenge the limits in everything you do. Like for me, I always multi-task so it’s important for me to know these things when considering a new laptop.
STORAGE
As I mentioned earlier, X412 and X512 have a dual-storage design to give us a superfast data performance. It has up to 256GB SSD Storage plus up to 2 Terabyte HDD storage. It has up to 16GB RAM and up to 8th gen intel Core i7 processor and did I mention an intel Optane memory? This one actually improves the performance like SSD as it accelerates hard disk performance to enjoy the benefits of a large storage capacity. Sounds alien right guys but I like how it loads our frequently use apps in an instant!
BATTERY
ASUS VivoBook lasts 3 times longer than the standard lithium-ion batteries. With up to 10 hours battery life, this one is truly the notebook to have for workaholics like us. And yes, it also has a safer charging experiences with its integrated ASUS Battery Health Charging technology. Its fast charging can performed up to 60% load in 49 minutes. Here I am testing its capacity on a full day outside work.
Over-all, ASUS VivoBook X412 (and X512) is perfect for those with chic and modern lifestyle or those seeking a work-life balance like us! If you’re the one who always think out of the box, energetic and creative that prefers stylist laptop on the go, ASUS VivoBook is definitely a personality match! Millenials watch out for the perfection of this series because it is also capturing the hearts of students and professionals!
