Remember the last Zenfone articles I made in the last 4 months? Well, here I am again as ASUS unveiled an interesting upgrade to the popular Zenfone series, the new Zenfone Max Pro M2! I know that ASUS has been chanpioning mobile photography for years now, and in fact our recent trip to Boracay is a testament on how serious they were in being the king in innovations. ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2, is the latest model in ASUS’ famous “Max” series of smartphones that are world renowned for their high capacity batteries. It is the successor to the highly successful ZenFone Max Pro (M1) launched in early 2018. As promised, I did try to use the new Max Pro M2 during my trip in Legazpi, Albay to finally test it.
Lately, I invest on mobile photography for my Instagram and blog content and so far, I am loving the experience. In fact, it is more convenient for me to bring just simply smartphone than bringing my SLR camera. I like how their interface is not hard to use.
Here are some quick shots I made.
Anyway, let’s get to the basic specification of Max Pro M2:

I am a fan of huge smartphone. That’ why when I got hold of the new ZenFone Max Pro, I said it is nothing new to what I use have. It features a slightly larger 6.3-inch, high contrast, IPS display. The aspect ratio has increased to 19:9, along with a resolution increase to 2280 x 1080 (FHD+), but the brightness and contrast remain the same class-leading 450nits and 1500:1 respectively. The display is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 that is twice as tough as its predecessor, Gorilla Glass 5. No wonder it can house as much as 5000 mAh battery.
In fact, the ZenFone Max Pro is, to date, only the second phone in the world to use Gorilla Glass 6 (the first is the ASUS ROG Phone), and the only smartphone in its class to have it.
The ZenFone Max Pro is the first Max series model to feature AI Scene Detection capability. Using a special algorithm known technically as an “AI data model“, it senses the scenes or subjects the user is shooting applies the ideal settings that would render the best results. So I tried using the phone during our activities and it didn’t disappoint.
The new ZenFone Max Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC that has 11% faster performance and 33% faster graphics than the already-fast Snapdragon 636 of the older model.
The ZenFone Max Pro’s 5000mAh battery is among the highest capacity of any smartphone – especially for its size, and gives it outstanding battery life including 4G standby time of up to 35 days, 3G talk time of 45 hours, Wi-Fi browsing time of 23 hours, and music playback of 8 days.
Oh by the way, this new Max Pro M2 has a triple card slot:
Tray 1 2G/3G/4G Nano SIM
Tray 2 2G/3G/4G Nano SIM
Tray 3 microSD card up to 2TB
*Only one 4G and another 3G data connection supported simultaneously.
It is available in two elegant colors: Midnight Blue and Cosmic Titanium.
