This just in, Kita Kita, a movie by Spring Films breaches 300 Million Mark today, August 8, twenty days since it opened in cinemas nationwide. This was announced by Erickson Raymundo, one of the producers of the film along with Piolo Pascual.
With the word of mouth and less publicity in major media platforms, this is by far one of the most bankable films of all time. Kita Kita is now the highest grossing independently produced movie in the Philippines.
We are talking a 300 Million mark and we are not under the MMFF period. July and August is not an ordinary screening season as the movie is pitted against Star Cinema’s John Lloyd and Sarah movie, not to mention a Cinemalaya and Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino week. Kita Kita joins the rank of A Second Chance, Starting Over Again, It Takes A Man and A woman, My Ex and Whys, Can’t Help Falling in Love, Barcelona, plus Film fest royalty, enter all Vice Ganda movie films.
I have predicted the gross of this movie by 350 Million on its 4-week run but with the turn of events, and here is the most obvious scenario, here comes another payday monday and millennials are to set foot to cinemas third week of August.
KITA KITA is written and directed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo. Highly commended. Rod Magaru rating 9 out of 10 stars.
