If you frequent to the hip and chic Fashion Hall of SM Megamall, there’s a big chance of you going to shop and dine. This time, I am introducing you to a new haven of good food and lovable ambiance, the ALQUERIA Tapas, Paellas Y Bistecas located at the 3rd level of SM Fashion Hall.
Inside Alqueria is a spanish decor-perfection from floors to walls. I feel like I am into different dimension with its cozy ambiance and courteous staff.
The restaurant is actually a part of the SumoSam group by Marvin Agustin. Popular partners of the establishment are Agot Isidro, Mylene Dizon, Liz Uy and Madam Charo Santos-Concio. Alqueria is indeed a perfect place to wander EDSA. The view is exactly the busy avenue of the city where you can eat and talk about how world continues to revolve around everyone without you knowing it. (Hugot?!)
With some friends from the blogging industry, we decided to spend our late lunch here at Alqueria to try some talk of the town dishes that I haven’t tried before. As I may have shared with you in some of my tweets, my Mom is an avid fan of their Paella (photos below).
Below is their yummy Champignon al Ajillo. I don’t know but I love everything which has a mix of white wine in the menu. This is actually perfect with a good crusty bread. Champignon al Ajillo (Php235) is a mixed mushroom seasoned with garlic, paprika sauteed in olive oil with a dash of white wine.
And then we tried, of course Gambas. Same with Champignon al Ajillo (375Php), their white wine and butter ingredients add flavor to it plus some garlic, red pepper flakes and paprika. Its kinda oily but I think its worth trying if you’re a shrimp lover.
There is something in the Alqueria Menu which I think you will love, COCA. COCA is a thin crust bread topped with caramelized onions, olives, tomato confit and anchovies. I liked the sweetened onions though I wish they will make this as burger spread. COCA is PHP315.00
Another Paella that is worth trying in Alqueria is the Fisherman’s Paella below. I think if you’re not a fan of extra flavored squid one like Paella Negra, you will appreciate this fisherman’s paella. It is achoice of wild or short grain rice cooked in saffron-infused stock and pomodoro topped with shrimps, mussels, squid and fish of the day. Fisherman’s Paella is worth PHP 885.00
Sweet tooth department! Canonigo (Php218) only. This is a Filipino version of the French dessert “ile flottante or oeufs a la neige, baked meringue with caramel and candied bananas.
And then of course, the famous Churros con chocolate! Order in either three, five or 10 pieces of churros. DIP Options are white or dark chocolate in which they use Valor for their chocolates.
Alqueria Restaurante is located at the 3rd floor of Mega Fashion Hall, Building D, SM Megamall. Please text or call +639165062659 for reservations and inquiries.
