Forty five-year-old Haydee Manosca of Taguig City was declared the first-ever grand champion of “Stars on 45” for giving stirring and powerful renditions of two ballads last Saturday (Mar 22) during its grand finals on “It’s Showtime.”
Haydee enthralled the judges and the studio audience by flawlessly belting Eric Carmen’s “All By Myself” and Beyoncé’s “Listen.” She won the P300,000 grand prize.
“What you did was you didn’t copy the original singer. Although this is a contest, you didn’t just perform, you expressed yourself and what was inside your heart,” commented judge Gary Valenciano on her performances.
Cavite’s Carmelita Abrenica was named first runner-up and received P200,000, while Charlie Fry was proclaimed the second runner-up with P100,000.
On Saturday’s episode, the hosts also announced that “It’s Showtime” is launching its newest competition for kids “Mini Me,” featuring kids who are mini versions of their idols. Interested participants nine years old and younger may audition from Mondays to Fridays, 1-5 PM at the ABS-CBN Audience Entrance in Quezon City. Look for Jimmy Capulong. Just bring a birth certificate and prepare a two-minute performance.
Stay tuned to “It’s Showtime,” hosted by Anne Curtis, Vice Ganda, Vhong Navarro, Billy Crawford, Karylle, Kuya Kim Atienza, Teddy Corpuz, Jugs Jugueta, Jhong Hilario, Ryan Bang, Coleen Garcia, at Eric ‘Eruption’ Tai, at 12:30 PM and on Saturdays at 12NN on ABS-CBN.
