Last night I was talking with my friend over WeChat and discussed how our first quarter went in between corporate work and blogging community. As my fellow blogger’s own words, “We Rock Social Media Rod!” Our first few months of the year were mostly about events, presscons, food fairs, music festival, sporting events all over the metro. Gladly we upgraded our favorite social messaging app to WeChat 5.2 version as it help us to keep sane and update with our activities while we are on the go.
MENU BAR
I’ve noticed that the new upgrade for WeChat gave us more user friendly, easy to tap Menu Bar. It opens a clearer interface which has its many features categorized into different sections such as Chats, Discover and Contacts. In CHAT, it lets you continue with your current conversations, while Contacts allows you to start new exchanges with your friends. For the rest of your favorite, fun features, one tap of the Discover tab easily takes you to your Moments feed as well as options including Scan QR Code, Shake, People Nearby, Drift Bottle, Games, and Sticker Shop.

Friend Radar
Last friday night I attended an event at Mind Museum and searching for my friends’ location. I arrived just in time so the screening already started. Grateful to WeChat because I was able to located them through WeChat FRIEND RADAR. It automatically identify my friends within the vicinity! FRIEND RADAR also give you the option to add other users to your contact list with one tap of their images. This crosses out the fuss of having to exchange little details. Friend Radar accessed through the Menu Bar > Add Contacts does the digital friend-scanning for you, as you connect with the same people in person.

Real-time Location-sharing
This one feature is also my favorite. If let say I am planning to go shopping, WeChat’s Real-time Location-sharing feature able to loop you around the area and you can invite your friends to share where they are and help them navigate their way on the WeChat map and through an integrated walkie-talkie session. Simply open a chat > + > Locations > Real-time Location > to view one another’s maps.

Group Chat Photo Album
I didn’t know this until last night. Early last month I wanted to upload photos from my social networking accounts but having problems scrolling through endless chats. The upgrade from WeChat’s 5.2 has helped me ease my concern. With the integration of a Group Chat Photo Album, photos shared in your group chat—whether for a long road trip in Tagaytay to pigging out somewhere south, our photos are arranged by date and then stored in one location accessed through one tap of the Photo Album icon. TRY IT!

Universal Search
THIS, is another awesome feature of WeChat upgrade 5.2. If for instance you forgot something about schedule you discussed over chat. worry not because with WeChat’s Universal Search feature, you can quickly refer back to any message or contact by typing into the search field within the Chats tab. This is like a feature in my Blackberry where an easy search occurs.
