Our final trip for that day was to visit the Renato Catiempo Organic Farm. Catiempo Farm is located in Bago City, Negros Occidental and upon our arrival we already saw Sir Renato waiting for us.
It was a long ride from Rapha Valley but the tour is worth the finale. Actually, Catiempo Farm started small. (Well I guess most of the organic farms from their humble beginning.) From his story, I can see that Sir Renato is a very passionate man. His farm is totally different from the other organic farms that we’ve visited here in Negros Occidental. It’s main crop is rice, so aside from the herbs that were intelligently placed around the farm, there’s also a mini rice terraces, which look so nice and green and very relaxing..
Catiempo Farm by the way is practcing Integrated Farming System, meaning aside from its rice as main crops, it also produce vegetables such as lettuce, eggplant, tomato, ampalaya, bell pepper, among others. Oh my mom loves to plant vegatable alongside her orchids. 🙂
Everything is properly labeled in this farm!
We saw some plants at the sidewalk and they’re growing it with labels. I think this is very helpful for me since I find it hard to memorize the plants.
Also very noticeable is the segregation of waste that everyone should practice.
After that whole weekend trip, I can really appreciate Negros not only of the ruins but for its rich Organic Agriculture industry. I am very grateful to Department of Agriculture – Agriculture Training Institute for having us in this third leg of Blogger’s Tour. Special Thanks to my dear friend, Ruth Floresca, and From ATI, Ms. Niet Arceo. I will definitely go back to Negros and will try to visit these organic farms!
