(MOVIE) Nora Aunor, Coco Martin, De Rossi sisters Led the 36th Gawad Urian Nominees

This is one of the few remaining awards giving body here in our country I believe in. The Body examines Filipino films, bolster the interest of the masses and the Philippine film industry, study and celebrate the achievement that will help define the good Filipino film, and cultivate the knowledge and skills that the film medium was designed for, which is to be a medium of communication and expression of our culture according to the standards and conditions of filmmaking in our country.

Gawad Urian announces Major nominations this year! The 2013 Gawad Urian Awards will be held on June 18, Thursday, at the Rockwell Tent, and will be aired on Cinema One shortly thereafter.

For their part, Manunuri president Tito Valiente says, “We decided to partner with Cinema One again because it is an institution that nurtures new talent and supports Philippine cinema. The airing of the Gawad Urian Awards on Cinema One will give our awards a popular appeal.”

The Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino is composed of film scholars, educators and journalists. “We are a mix of people from the academe and the public sphere,” describes Valiente.
