My Movie Review: WEDDING TAYO WEDDING HINDI

Last Tuesday, August 30, 2011 A back to back premiere night was held in Trinoma Ayala Mall and SM North The Block for one of the most anticipated comedy movie event of the year, The Wedding Tayo Wedding Hindi by StarCinema and OctoArts films. Both event are Star Studded and successful that I chose the second screening. To my surprise the event was also jampacked.

I think Im a fan of Direk Joey Reyes since 1999 when he wrote Luksong Tinik, 9 Mornings (2002) and The Kasal Kasali Kasalo and its sequel. His contribution to the industry is of course one of the memorable. When he did this Wedding Tayo for Star Cinema, I already knew that this will be fun, a riot movie to reckon with. The Wedding Tayo Wedding Hindi gamble the chemistry of The Recently Awarded Box Office Queen Toni Gonzaga and 2011 Cinemalaya’s Best Actress Eugene Domingo. With Zanjoe Marudo and Wendell Ramos on the main cast, their fans will be enthralled to watch them finally get rumbled on the screen.

In addition, most of the people who are into relationship can relate to the situation of having intrusive in-laws and complicated relationship.

WEDDING TAYO WEDDING HINDI

Cast: Toni Gonzaga, Eugene Domingo, Wendell Ramos and Zanjoe Marudo
Writer & Director: Jose Javier Reyes
Studio: Star Cinema and Octo Arts
Plot: The story of Wedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi movie is about two cousins in different stages of their love journey. One is trying to end her marriage and the other trying to get married. Together they will discover and rediscover the most important lessons on staying married and getting married. Belay (Toni Gonzaga) is an excited bride and Precy (Eugene Domingo) is an exhausted wife.

Precy has been married for a long time and has had enough of the married life because of problems and misunderstandings with her husband (Wendell Ramos).

On the other hand, Belay is a meek and conservative town girl who became a Japayuki. Now she is very excited about marrying the man of her life (Zanjoe Marudo).

I never doubted the bankability of Star Cinema topbilling Toni Gonzaga plus Eugene Domingo.  Toni Gonzaga does a great job: she plays it just right a gay-girl of modern times, she has great lines that she delivers with pitch-perfect timing; Eugene Domingo on the other hand manages to make herself simpatica even when she’s being pushy and choosy.

When I heard that the movie will be released before, I asked who will direct the film. And happy to know that it is Direk Joey Reyes from Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo. I’m such a sucker for Reyes works.

Toni delivers without fail, while Eugene gives a convincing performance as a wife. I will forever love Irma Adlawan and Odette Khan for playing the mother of Zanjoe Marudo and Wendell Ramos respectively, Ther were my best bet for Best Supporting Actress.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed the film, I think the movie trailer gave away too much of the plot. The highlights were all laid out there.

Good thing I never got bored everything Toni Gonzaga will throw a punchlines, or everytime Eugene share her humor.

I think there’s no problem in terms of who made the cut on the billing. Its an equal opportunity for the four of them. Im still not married, nor getting into marrying someone. But I still can feel the situation revolves around the main character. Paul Salas and Miles Ocampo looks very fresh on the big screen. I think they were two of the star to look for in 2012! Well Miles has proven her craft in different acting and comedy stint while Paul also started to surprise audience.

Direk Joey managed to deliver the message through comedy.

The story is very pinoy and very appealing.

“I ALSO LOVE HWO THEY TACKLED THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ANNULMENT and DIVORCE”

Once in a while we would laugh out loud with the witty remarks thrown out by the characters but the film will allows you to realize the feeling and roles of a parent. How different it is when you are already one and when you already have no time for your own. Galing!

Ok here are my pick of the 5 Funny memorable scenes in the movie:

  1. Toni Gonzaga Arrival from Japan.
  2. Teddy’s behaviour on Pamamanhikan during lunch.
  3. All Odette Khan scene
  4. Eugene Domingo Bed Scene
  5. Eugene Domingo and Wendell Ramos conversation In the park.

Wont elaborate more on the scenes as Im sure some of you are still planning when to watch this but lets compare notes.

Congrats StarCinema! Movie is worth watching!
