(LIFESTYLE) Beat Manila Traffic By Riding Ascent’s Helicopter Ride!
Much has been said about traffic in Manila and how it impacted the lives of many in terms of wasted opportunities. I know that this is not an isolated case because in fact, Manila is not the lone city in South-East Asia with this kind of dilemma. Good thing, some of the companies and groups are making an effort to make the situation bearable and even trying to find a way to beat it. In fact, this week I got the chance to try and book a helicopter flight with Ascent. Ascent Flights are now operating starting March 23, 2018 and is currently providing three back and forth rides in Makati, Quezon City and Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
The route I chose is actually from Makati to NAIA, a road course where you have to really strategize and plan your day if you are going abroad or elsewhere. I never missed my flights from the past but I admit that I had to prepare earlier because I am considering the Manila Traffic, regardless of the hour of the day.
Currently ASCENT FLIGHTS have the following routes and pricing per seat:
FLY FROM NAIA TO MAKATI P7,800
FLY FROM MAKATI TO NAIA P7,800
FLY FROM NAIA TO QUEZON CITY P12,800
FLY FROM QUEZON CITY TO NAIA P12,800
FLY FROM MAKATI TO QUEZON CITY P8,800
FLY FROM QUEZON CITY TO MAKATI P8,800
This is actually my first time to ride a helicopter and I would say that the experience is memorable.
Here is a quick guide for booking a seat.
1. Select your preferred destination at ascent.flights
2. Choose your date and preferred time. Also fill in passenger’s details.
3. You will be redirected to a cart where you have to login and proceed with the payment.
I didn’t encounter any problems with my booking. It was a very smooth transaction and after awhile, I got the confirmation email with details on my flight.
The ride was actually less than 15 minutes. From The Peninsula Manila in Makati, ASCENT staff welcome us for the safety briefing before going upstairs. If you are flying with them soon, all you need to do is to approach the service desk or reception and they will assist you to the ASCENT TEAM.
At first I thought that it is a bumpy ride out there and that I may have to burden the noise and all but ASCENT FLIGHTS are literally like a silent car in the air. I was with Dani Barretto who is equally excited taking photos and looking at the majestic view of city. When I say majestic, that includes Manila’s main avenue (EDSA) traffic situation on a usual morning of the week.
The flight is on time so for us who flew and scheduled at 9.15AM going to NAIA, we have to be there by at least 8.55 AM. I arrived around 8.30 and all I have to do is to wait for our turn to go to the heliport upstairs.
It was a wonderful experience and I think I may be availing one of the flights soon on one of my trips this year. Oh by the way, I have a PROMO CODE for you to use so you can enjoy P500 OFF your flight. Just click simply this link to register bit.do/rod-m.
