(MOVIE REVIEW) Nagging & Product Placement Killed GMA FILMS’ My Bebe Love

We reached SM Baliwag yesterday before 1pm and managed to secure two tickets for my Mom. Since we didn’t secure other entries, we watch My Bebe Love first.

Aside fromGMA Films, mutiple producers also cashed for the first Aldub project such as APT Films, Octo Arts Films, M-ZET Productions and MEDA Productions. Directed by Joey Reyes, Vic Sotto, and Aiai Delas Alas topbill the project with Alden Richards and introducing Maine Mendoza.

Also starring Arlene Muhlach, Valeen Montenegro and Ryan Yllana. This movie also have special appearances from some of the Eat Bulaga hosts.

The movie plot is simple, there were two modern families fighting against each other and their conflict extended to their nephew and daughter.

WATCH THIS TRAILER.

Actually the trailer already gave the entire movie away.

Aiai Delas Alas used to be on top of my list as festival’s comedy actress. From her Tanging Ina series which I never failed to watch on special screenings in the past, her jump to this movie is a major disappointment. I guess it’s the material and script given to her. She agreed to do this movie with this kind of character as if she went back to her GMA days years ago. Her non-stop screaming and nagging in the entire movie made my Mom’s excuse to pee understandable. Vic Sotto’s attack remains the same. I can’t seem to fathom Vic and Aiai’s non stop fight. It was really painful to watch.

Reyes successfully incorporate Aldub in an originally Aiai Delas Alas and Vic Sotto starrer. The appeal of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza’s phenomenal success gave this movie a boost on box office.

If I am not mistaken, this is Maine’s first acting project and she’s ok for first timer. I have to commend that kilig is there given the chemistry and look in their eyes speak kilig and the traditional love story and courting though I think we already see this everyday in their noontime show. Nothing is new.

There is actually a family values instilled in this movie. But then again, I will never recommend this movie if you want to spend your money on something that you want to enjoy.

So many commercial placements and intrusions in this movie and I want to believe that this was submitted to satisfy the brands’ marketing budget. Some of the brands appeared blatantly in this entry are Bear brand adult Plus, Coca-cola, One Esplanade, San Mig Light, San Miguel Pale Pilsen, O+, Glutamax, Krispy Kreme, Solmux, PLDT Home, Cignal, McDonalds, Tide, Phoenix Petroleum, Nissan and so much more.

There were some placement that Reyes managed to handle well but its deliberate product placement distracted me to identify the real plot of the movie. At this point I wonder why its on top of the list.

What did I do to myself.

Baka mas may saysay pa yung storyline.
